How to evaluate datapacks, companion mods and Better Lost Cities-style customizations. This guide focuses on a repeatable setup process rather than assuming every launcher, modpack or server uses the same files.
Define what the addon changes
An addon may provide assets, datapack content, configuration, world styles or code. Knowing which layer it changes helps you understand what can conflict.
Match the target version
An addon built around an older asset format may not work on a modern branch. Verify the exact Lost Cities and Minecraft versions stated by the addon author.
Test one addon at a time
Start with the base mod, then enable one addon and generate a new test area. This makes it much easier to identify which package caused a bad asset or generation error.
Keep third-party sources separate
A Better Lost Cities mod or tweak package is not automatically part of the official project. Evaluate its source, permissions and update history independently.
